This whole pandemic impacted me quite a bit and it’s really weird. It's boring staying inside all day and it's really disappointing that I cant see my friends at all. I started doing more exercise lately and I started to get lazier and lazier which is bad and I’ve been on my phone in bed mostly every day since there is nothing to do. It's difficult to have fun around this time since you can't go somewhere that is enjoyable. My family and I play board games more than usual since the pandemic started. Society right now is really impacted by this, many people are in a crisis and some are not. All you see around you are people wearing masks, and to be honest it's really sad and depressing seeing everyone wearing them at a time like this. This isn't the society we all live in, but for right now I guess it is. Anyways many families have been greatly impacted by this. I see that society is making special communities for helping families. Schools are also helping families by giving them food. Additionally, I’ve seen people protest about the situation we are in contributing to Covid-19. I think after this is over many people are just going to be the same honestly. Maybe things will be a lot different, for example, maybe stores will be more cautious about diseases, maybe people will learn from this. Who knows how people are going to act when this situation is over, I hope many are safe during this time and I know it’s really boring but I feel that we can get through this together.

After we were done with basic techniques from 3ds Max we went to even greater heights. I learned new features that really helped me a lot more and provided me with new designs. These were called modifiers and they really gave me a different perspective to the whole space of 3ds Max. Some of theses modifiers include Taper, Noise, Twist, Bend and many more, and I admit they are really hard to use especially Taper for some apparent reason. Throughout the weeks of learning about special techniques I've gotten way better at Clara.io, I had many struggles here and there but I managed to solve them in a really good way. Right now we are using modifiers for amazing assignments such as creating a mushroom and flowers to create a beautiful scene, but I got to hand to you it was really difficult creating the mushrooms. But for the flowers I feel its going to pull me down because it looks extremely difficult to make but hopefully this assignment isn't that tough. Additionally, I want to talk about the situation we are in right now. This whole pandemic really changed how we work on our assignments in this class and to be honest I don't really like it. I will liked it when we were at school and having a great day to work on these assignments but hopefully we can get out of this. But anyways I hope we learn more and more as we are moving forwards and I hope everyone is safe from this pandemic.
A couple of weeks ago we started going into are final subject for this year known as 3D graphics. I was very surprised at how fast this school year went to get up to this final point in the quarter. This new subject is something I never have seen before, what I mean by this is that many of the other software we worked with is not the same as the new software known as 3ds Max. There is a huge difference and some of the mechanics are not the same, there are many features and some that really amazed me, and to be honest, I kind of prefer the old software than the new one that we are about to get into, but I will see if it gets better or not. I didn't understand a lot of things and the tools really confused me at first, we took some time and reviewed the specific set of skills we needed to understand such as shortcuts and basic tools, and overall this really gave me the set of skills I needed to overcome the challenges I might face in the future. The first assignment was the first time we used the new software and I was really excited about this moment and also prepared, we built a snowman and a pencil which was are first fun activity. I learned many things including the basic primitives, the snowman included basic primitives such as cylinders, spheres, squares, and cones. But I did have some problems creating some of the necessary objects such as the snowman nose, the pencil was no different than the snowman but I had the most trouble with that assignment and it really gave me a hard time. I couldn’t manage to change the side of the cylinder which really bugged me, not only that some objects were too big and too small. Since I’m using Clara.io it’s really difficult to find the things I need but I overcome these challenges as fast as I can. As we move on to this new subject I hope to find many activities that will give me enjoyment and skills for the near future.
After we were done with learning about the exposure triangle we when on to learn more about camera shots and angles. There were a whole bunch of camera shots that were hard to remember, but we learned more and more when we did are activity in Photoshop. We had to search for the different types of camera shots from different movies. This whole process gave me a nice visual when it came to the picture. I never knew that there were so many types of angle shots and camera shots in types of films and movies and video games also. Hopefully, we can learn more about this and use these techniques soon to help me better understand more if I ever need it. After we were finished with understanding with camera shots and angles we went on to the next level which was video editors. This was a whole new experience for me since I never knew how to use video editors at all. We had to pick an image that had a color we picked out. The new software we used was called Premiere Pro and it was really slow and we had to wait a while for it to load. Premiere Pro was amazing and weird at first but I got a hang of it later on. In this new software, you could drag how long the image showed in the video and place text, it wasn't hard at all it was nice and simple. I hope we can explore more in the software when we have time and see what amazing creation we can do next.
We had an assignment that involved practicing with the exposure triangle which was interesting and fun. We had some practice to do which made us understand more but it was confusing at first. When I first tried to take a picture It came out either too bright or too dark and even some that I couldn't even describe. There were 3 exposure that I needed to control to make the picture turn out great. At first, I didn't understand what they meant but soon after I started messing with these exposures I had the hang of it. Then came the challenge, which wasn't that hard at all, it showed me exactly whether I had a good exposure or not and whether I took it too far. I knew which adjustments I had to make when it told me to copy the same picture and it worked out pretty well. This practice helped me understand more about exposure and adjustments when taking a picture that I can use in the future to make the picture more interesting and amusing.
We are finally done with drawing robots and spaceship. Now we are moving on to creatures, I haven't drawn creatures that much at all and I'm really hoping I can get good at it. I just finished doing my power monster sketch, this really gave me some ideas on how I can make my own monster and use different animal parts from the animal kingdom to make it more amazing and natural but also scary. The shading and lighting helped me make the power monster more realistic instead of flat, using this technique I can make this monster come to life and make it more interesting as I move on. Also drawing horns gave me a new vision I could use as well, it taught me how I can use patterns and describe what the horns mean, say I drew the horns broken, I can say that the monster fought in many battles causing it to break. Another thing I could do is draw the horns to make it looked curled up like a goat and can give a sense that this monster is old and has wisdom. This sketch overall was kind of difficult but gave me a new way to look at how I can draw creatures and how I can apply these techniques to other things.
We started animation not that long ago and It was very difficult. But after we did more and more activities it started to get a little bit easier. We did are first activity which was a ball animation and I will tell you it wasn't easy. It involved a lot of steps and was very difficult in my opinion. We then went on to make a motion graphics which wasn't that hard as the ball animation, to me it was the best activity, it showed me new techniques I can use if I ever want to do an introduction or use It for other things. I feel like we should do more motion graphics in my opinion and see what amazing creations we can do with it. After we were done with motion graphics we went to gifs next, right now I just finished making my gifs and they're not hard to make either and their actually really entertaining. You can make really creative gifs that are fun to make and easy to do with simple steps. Also during the activities we got introduced to the drawing pen as well, and it really was confusing at first because I never knew how to use it. The pen was amazing and very interesting to use, I always wanted to use a drawing pen since I loved drawing a lot, and maybe I might try to get one so I can use it to increase my drawing skills to a new other level. Furthermore these activities gave me new skills and ideas I can use later on in the future and increased my learning on how animation works and how I can apply that to create my own.
So far this year has been really amazing and so far my artistic technique have grown even greater. Over the month we learned how to sketch robots and spaceships. And to be honest I never drew robots nor spaceships that often. But through these sketches we did, it really improved my skills as an artist. I never knew what I could do until now. I learned that detailed shading can really bring out the whole piece as well as experimenting with angles and perspective. At first to me making robots were very difficult and didn't know where to start.
Today in class we are working on our movie poster, now you must be wondering what movie am I doing for this project. Right now I'm doing the movie Astro boy, this movie I loved as a kid I would always watch it. But let's talk about my progress. Right now I'm adding wires into Astro boy, I'm going to try and make it as detailed as possible and add some lightning effect to it as if it were revving Astro boy. The title I want to make my movie poster is Astro boy reborn meaning he is coming back. Astro boy's body itself was actually pretty difficult to do. I had to adjust how I wanted his head and body, but overall I'm trying to add some shades into it. The background color and image I haven't decided yet but I'm still working on it. I thought of adding Astro boy feet and hand but I wanted it to look like he was getting built and still in progress making. But furthermore, I'm still thinking on how I can add more to this movie poster.
About 2 days ago we got introduced to the pen tool when I heard about the pen tool I thought oh this was going to be easy since I used the pen tool in making the badges. But no it was the opposite of what I thought, there was a whole lot more to it. Mr.B showed us how hard it was to use a simple pen, he showed us how to make the line straight, how to make a circle by using the curves, and how to change the direction by pressing alt. Once he was done showing this horror of a pen we needed some practice. So he showed us a game called The Bézier Game, this game was really extraordinary. It helped us how to use the pen tool in many kinds of ways and how to create specific things. But for me, I had trouble with the last bit which was making the car, I really hated that part. But overall the pen tool is going to be hard to use, but Mr.B told us that with enough practice we can get use to it.
